Early Explorers

Early Explorers is an introductory camp program for four and five year olds.

Like our older campers. our youngest explorers have a different daily schedule filled with many activities but at an easier pace designed to go at their own special speed. Exploring is what they like best with time to climb up and roll down hills, to collect nature finds and turn them into creative works of art, count caterpillar wholes, dig for worms, and use their imaginations all while learning new games and activity's. Each morning begins in there own classroom with a nuturing staff ready to help them navigate through each day. Here they return each afternoon for pickup. Our camper to counselor ratio is one in five.

A Sample of our week

Monday begins with name games to introduce all the new friends, and get comfortable with their counselors They don't stay inside long. Once they are comfortable with our staff and each other, they go to the 3rd Street playground, a favorite and familiar spot to play with their new friends. After the playground we venture forth to the meadow for our scheduled group activities and early lunch. Then it is back to the site, change into bathing suits and get onto the yellow school bus to the Pool. Exhausted, after the pool, a story and rest period follows before our final afternoon activity.

Tuesday is a day of exploring the many places in Prospect Park. All of our activities are done outside throughout the day from sports, singing, games, nature, hiking, storytelling, drama, playgrounds and sprinklers, and resting under trees to refuel. Back at the site if there is time we do arts and crafts based on the nature theme of the day.

Wednesday is an all activities day. We start with sports and games in Prospect Park, and then go back to our site for dance or karate, arts and crafts, lunch then onto the bus to the Brooklyn Gymnastic Center.

Thursday is our trip day. Each week is different. Planned For this summer is the Prospect Park Zoo, Kids N Action, Nellie Bly Amusements, Puppetworks, Lefferts Homestead,The carousel, a children's museum, Bronx Zoo, and hiking Clove Lake Park. Some trips are a half day to give us time for more park activities.

Friday morning is spent at Manhattan Beach where they swim and build sand castles then go to the playground with a sprinkler to clean off before returning to the site. Most Friday afternoons there is a special event such as our camp show (parents are welcome) or carnival.

All schedules are subject to change. A Calendar of events will be mailed to each parent in June prior to camp starting date.
