Exploring Beyond
For preteens and teens!
Exploring Beyond is for our oldest Campers entering 5th through 9th grades, in September. We were told by our teens that a good camp lets them have a say in their activities depending on their mood of the day. Park Explorers listens and gives lots of choices, within our schedule. It is not unusual to have a group playing basketball, another kick ball, while another is sitting on the grass doing lanyard weaving or working on their scrapbook. Twice a week we go to the pool. Once a week we go to tennis, gymnastics, the beach, and a different weekly day trip in and around the NYC area. Optional choices of overnight trips to Club Getaway or our Camping Adventure can added to our weekly program.
Exploring beyond gives each camper a chance to show their talent in our camp shows. Previously we have had campers choreograph and perform dances, write skits, show off magic tricks, tell jokes, read poetry,and more. We encourage all our groups to use their individual talents and imagination to enhancing their skills and gain positive self-esteem.
Hang out with old friends, make new ones, and join us to see how many wonderful people and places there are in and around Brooklyn.
15 and 16 year olds may apply for our Counselor in Training Program. This volunteer program is a great way to learn self-discipline and share our talents with the younger campers. CIT's will receive a letter of community service for their time. A stipend is paid to those who work six weeks or more. To be eligible you must fill out the job application and be interviewed.
