Rhythmic Gymnastics Open to all levels from beginner to advance. Campers entering 3rd through 9th grade. Rhythmic Gymnastics combines sport and art together to promote grace of movement, muscular flexibility and strength, as well as good posture. It combines elements of ballet, gymnastics, theatrical dance, and apparatus manipulation. Using music as a steady force, gymnasts move from simple calisthenics to more strenuous activities while twirling ribbons, balancing balls, juggling clubs and dancing with hoops. Our Rhythmic Gymnastic campers have three full half days of gymnastic training per week, and two days of regular camp. This allows for a wonderful balance of summer exercise, sunshine, and fun. Within the two week program there are two afternoons at a pool, one morning at Manhattan beach, trips to Prospect Park and special trips in and around the NYC area. At the end of the three week session, our gymnasts celebrate with a pizza party then show off their routine at our annual camp show. The shows are on the last Friday of each session at 2:45 PM. Shows are open to all family and friends. Director and Coach: Mariana Dybsjord Mariana Dybsjord is a National Rhythmic 1st place medalist from Norway. Honored by the Governor for her artistic and gymnastic ability, she is well respected and known though out her native country. As well as being a top rated gymnast, she has trained and performed in both classical ballet and contemporary dance. For the past six years Mariana has been coaching gymnastics and teaching dance here in the United States. Her level four gymnastic team made first place in the New York State championship in 2007. She has her own program during the year called Creative Moves with Mariana.
